Helpline Terms and Conditions

Legal Helpline Terms & Conditions of Use

  1. The Legal Helpline (“Helpline”) is operated by Stephensons Solicitors LLP (“Stephensons”) in accordance with these Terms & Conditions, on behalf of Angel Risk Management (“Angel”), for the benefit of their customers who have purchased membership (“Authorised User(s)”).

  2. The Business Support Hub is operated by Farillio Ltd (“Farillio”). To use and benefit from the Business Support Hub, an Authorised User must register an account with Farillio using a voucher code provided by Angel. Use of the Business Support Hub is strictly subject to agreement to Farillio’s Terms of Use which can be found at: https://www.farill.io/legal/terms-of-use or detailed when registering an account, which may be amended from time to time.

  3. Membership to the Legal Helpline and Business Support Hub is purchased directly through Angel. Neither Stephensons nor Farillio will be responsible for payments made directly to Angel.

  4. Membership to the Legal Helpline and Business Support Hub lasts for a period of 13 months. Should an Authorised User wish to renew their membership they must do so directly via Angel by paying for a new subscription.

  5. The Helpline is not intended to replace the services of a solicitor, but rather to assist an Authorised User to identify the legal issues at hand, consider legal rights, what courses of action are available and whether there is a need to consult a lawyer. The Helpline can provide general advice only and cannot assist with complex legal matters which may require the review of documentation or specific legislation. General advice may be limited to signposting and referring the Authorised User to other appropriate agencies, or recommending a specialist solicitor for further assistance, which may also include a referral to the appropriate specialist department within Stephensons who will consider, depending on the type of work, what funding options are available (which could include a requirement to pay for Stephensons’ services) to assist further with the matter.

  6. The Helpline cannot consider or comment on documents or receive information in any format other than by telephone unless reasonable adjustments are required as per the Equality Act 2010.

  7. The Helpline only deals with matters covered by the law as it relates to the jurisdiction of England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland. It does not cover foreign law or matters with no legal content (however these may be referred on to other reputable sources of assistance where appropriate).

  8. The Helpline will not enter into correspondence on behalf of Authorised Users or contact any third parties. The purpose of the Helpline is to provide immediate practical help and assistance and it does not cover pursuing, defending or in any other way becoming involved in the Authorised User’s legal or other affairs unless the Authorised User instructs Stephensons by way of a retainer under their normal funding arrangements.

  9. The Helpline service does not include the funding of legal cases, but the Helpline may be able to assist the Authorised User in identifying the appropriate method of funding their legal costs.

  10. Stephensons will use reasonable endeavours to ensure that the Helpline is available Monday to Friday 8am-9pm, Saturday & Sunday 9am-5pm, and Stephensons reserve the right to amend the availability of the Helpline with immediate effect where necessitated by unforeseen events.

  11. The maximum number of calls from any Authorised User during a 12-month subscription may be limited to what Stephensons deem reasonable use.

  12. Calls may be restricted to a reasonable length of time as determined by the Helpline advisor having considered all appropriate advice and guidance available in accordance with these terms and conditions.

  13. Authorised Users consent to their calls being recorded and their personal data retained for the purpose of provision of the service, in accordance with the Data Protection Act 2018 and UK General Data Protection Regulations (“GDPR”). For more information on how Stephensons process data, please refer to their Privacy Policy which can be found at www.stephensons.co.uk. Stephensons may share your information with your insurer.

  14. By using the Helpline the Authorised User consents to management information relating to that call being shared by Stephensons to Angel. This information would include the caller’s membership and/or policy number, if applicable, the area of law, and whether the enquiry has converted to a formal instruction of Stephensons. Rest assured, Stephensons will not share confidential information relating to the query itself or any parties involved.

  15. In the event of conflict or potential conflict arising between an Authorised User and Angel and/or Stephensons, then Angel and/or Stephensons will notify the Authorised User accordingly and will be unable to provide any further help or assistance in respect of that particular matter where a conflict has arisen.

  16. Any dispute in relation to membership services must be raised directly with Angel. Any complaint about the Legal Helpline service can be put in writing to complaints@stephensons.co.uk. The Legal Helpline complaints procedure can be accessed at www.stephensons.co.uk/site/help/complaints_policy
